Story #56

One time this happened...

My grandmother's antique teapot has more character than you, and on our third date, I mentioned that in passing, just to see what would happen. It took a full minute for you to laugh and realize it wasn't a pickup line, and when you did, your eyes sparkled and your teeth glinted, a weirdly reassuring combination. I didn't fall for the 'quirks are charming' fallacy like everyone else; I just knew we were both odd in the right way – and besides, your weird laugh is better than most people's smiles. Maybe it won't last, or maybe you'll be the one still making me crack up when grandma's teapot finally falls apart, whoever's there in 40 years.
