Story #213

One time this happened...

My grandma always warned me to 'never trust the first line', whatever that meant, and now I'm the prime example. Last Friday, I attended this corporate mixer where every soul wore the same name tag and smiled like they were trying to convince their accountant to invest in tulip futures. My task was to mingle with the marketing team and convince them our software was the answer to the 'synergy question', I'm pretty sure they asked me. Anyway, after two and a half hours of trying to understand the difference between a 'thought leader' and an 'influencer', I stumbled upon a 'brainstorming session' where our sales strategy was apparently being dissected like a cadaver in medical school โ€“ the poor guy next to me kept scribbling equations on a chalkboard. Amid the chaos, someone mentioned an 'exit conference' was happening in an hour and somehow I got roped into presenting our vision to an auditorium of confused faces. I guess my presentation would be 'the thing that breaks trust'.
